Woodrock Animal Rescue is a pro-life, non-profit animal shelter in the Hennops River Valley near Pretoria. They rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals and have around 350 animals in their care at any given time.
Woodrock was founded in 1992 by Nicholas and Estelle Meldau in Woodmead and Khyber Rock, hence the name ‘Woodrock’, but have since moved to an 8.5-hectare property in the Hennops River Valley.
Their ethos is education and sterilisation and, with their staff of 22, they assist stray, abused, neglected, injured/ill, geriatric and all unwanted animals that would otherwise have lived miserable lives or suffered premature deaths.
Woodrock Animal Rescue relies entirely on donations to give a voice to those who have none.
