At many times in a dog’s life, they will experience stress and anxiety and there are a number of triggers for their stress. Loud noises (construction work, fireworks, thunder, etc.), travelling, making friends with a new puppy, having surgery or moving house – all of these factors have an emotional and physiological effect on our sensitive pups. Some dogs are just naturally highly strung or very susceptible to separation anxiety, in which case, they will need a long-term solution for their stress.

How can I relieve my dog’s stress?

Just have a browse through Pet Hero’s range of stress and anxiety control products for dogs and you’ll see that there are many different ways to help your dog with their stress. A lot of dogs’ stress has behavioural triggers, so you may need to change your dog’s routine or work with an animal behaviourist to address your dog’s anxiety. In the meantime, using calming aids like these below can be very helpful in calming down your nervous pup.

Do dog calming products work?

In short, yes. But it all depends on your dog, their level of anxiety and how you use the dog calming products. For long-term use, a calming product that is supplemented in your dog’s food can help with stressful situations that may take a long time to resolve (like moving house or introducing a new pet). For acute or chronic stress, you can also give your dog calming tablets. Use an air diffuser to create a calming environment in your home when you know a stressful situation is coming up (like introducing a new pet to your household), or a calming collar to specifically target one dog who is prone to stress. Sprays, wipes and chews containing calming ingredients can also be given to de-stress acute situations.

Browse our range of calming products to see which type of product will soothe your anxious pet the best. Also remember that some dogs experience stress as a result of boredom. Since exercise is a very good stress reliever, why not give your dog some exercise by playing with them with a toy, or taking them on nice long daily walks?
