The SAVF’s main aim is to promote a greater public understanding of animals through research.

The South African Veterinary Foundation (SAVF) was established in 1984 as an NPO to raise money to promote a greater understanding of animals through research. Their aim is to promote and advance veterinary and other biological sciences.

The SAVF’s work includes:

  • supporting veterinary research at all levels
  • funding bursaries for veterinary studies
  • investing in and administrating a variety of financial portfolios to promote the knowledge and status of the veterinary and para-veterinary professions in southern Africa

By doing this, the SAVF aims to improve the quality of life for both animal and mankind.
