The Animal Welfare Society of SA depends entirely on private donations to run their organisation. They offer a full range of veterinary services to the disadvantaged communities of Cape Town and their clinic is always open. They do sterilisations, orthopaedic operations and provide clinical help to sick and injured animals, housing more than 100 animals at any given time.
The Animal Welfare Society offers the following:
- call-outs responding to any animal in distress, from injured strays to the victims of dog fighting and abuse cases
- animal care education in communities and schools
- sterilisation campaigns
- rescuing and treating unwanted pets, then sterilising, microchipping and rehoming them
- veterinary services for the underprivileged
- call-outs from the City of Cape Town’s Traffic Department, SAPS and Metro Police involving injured or stray animals on public roadways
