Established in 1953, the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind is a non-profit organisation that works hard to provide for and assist with the breeding, raising and training of guide dogs for people who are blind, physically disabled or have autism. They have three branches in South Africa that rely totally on private donors for fundraising and financial support.

The SA Guide-Dogs Association is responsible for:

  • providing independence, mobility and companionship to those in need
  • providing highly trained guide dogs to the visually impaired
  • meeting the unique needs of physically disabled people by pairing them with service dogs who are specially trained to meet those needs
  • pairing autism support dogs with children diagnosed with autism, to ensure their safety and encourage their development
  • providing assistance to the visually impaired through orientation and mobility services

The SA Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind is made up of a unified team of passionate, highly motivated and encouraging people who strive to deliver the best quality and service possible. All this while ensuring the wellbeing of their dogs and the people they support.
