How to make a pet scarf

Approx. 5 minutes read

Does your pet hate wearing winter jerseys, but you really want them to look cute and cosy? Why not make your fur baby a gorgeous looking scarf? Here you can learn how to knit a very basic scarf. You can even add a pom-pom or tassels on the end.

What you will need:

  • Wool in two colours or more
  • Number 8 knitting needles
  • Scissors
  • Wool needle

Step 1:

Cast on an even number of stitches. This will depend on the size of your pet and how long or short you want it. If you do not know how to knit watch this short video that will show you how:

Knit a long rectangle in the length you need to fit loosely around your dog’s neck, plus about another 8 cm to make the loop for the pom-pom to go through. Do as many fittings as you need to get it right.

Step 2:

Once you have finished the length of the scarf, bind off your stitches.

Then take one of the ends and fold it over to make a loop. Make it big enough so that the end of the scarf can fit through. Take into consideration that the pom-pom or tassels will need to go through the folded half. Next, thread your yarn needle and sew the end of the loop.

Step 3:

At the end of the scarf you can add a fringe/tassel or a pom-pom. If you do not know how to make either, here is how:

Step 4:

Your fur baby is ready for its early morning and late afternoon walks and looks amazing. Now he or she can show their buddy how cool they are.
