What is Feliway® Classic Home Diffuser?

Your cat’s face is a hub for pheromone messaging!

With pheromone producing glands in their forehead, chin, cheeks, around the mouth and at the base of their ears, facial rubbing is a common pheromone depositing behaviour!

Cats will often rub their faces on household objects, doorways, and even people and other pets to mark them as ‘safe’ or familiar. It’s a positive sign that your cat is happy, relaxed, and content in their environment and territory. Over time, this reassurance will build, as your cat will be drawn to re-mark their favourite and important places with up-to-date pheromones. Outdoor cats may also use their facial pheromones to send messages to other cats who may enter their territory (such as by rubbing on trees) and discourage surprise confrontation!

If an environment lacks those secure facial pheromones, it may cause your cat to feel uncomfortable, or see unfamiliar objects or places as threatening. Because of this, using FELIWAY® CLASSIC can contribute to creating a reassuring environment for your pet.

It’s important to remember that cat pheromones are a natural, normal part of cat communication. So, whether your cat comes in contact with pheromones from another cat, or synthetic pheromones, they are always safe ‘cat messages’ with no side effects. They simply send a certain signal to your cat!

Which ingredients are used in Feliway® Classic Home Diffuser?

The diffuser vial contains the F3 fraction of feline facial pheromone analogue 2% in a mineral oil paraffin base (excipient).

 

From what age can I use this for my cat?

You can use this product from an early age, right after you acquire your new kitten.

 

What are the package sizes available?

FELIWAY® CLASSIC Home Diffuser is packaged with a 48 mℓ vial, which lasts up to 30 days. Replace the vial when empty.

The diffuser unit should be replaced after six months use or after using six refills.

How to use the Feliway® Classic Home Diffuser

Remove the vial cap.

Srew the diffuser onto the vial.

Plug the diffuser into an electric socket and switch on continuously for one month.

FELIWAY® CLASSIC Home Diffuser should be placed in the room most frequented by the cat or where marking has taken place.

For anticipated challenging situations (visitors at home, redecoration, fireworks, new kitten…), the diffuser should be plugged in at least 24h before the event’s start, to expose the cat to the comforting pheromones before the event.

The diffuser should be plugged in preferably at floor level.

Leave the diffuser plugged in continuously for at least 4 weeks. Ensure continuous comfort to the cat with FELIWAY® CLASSIC by using a new refill every month. The diffuser should be checked monthly and replaced every six months to ensure optimum effect.

Do not cover or place under furniture or under any object protruding from the wall. This may impair the diffusion of FELIWAY® CLASSIC and/or leave residual marks (due to accumulation of the excipient).

Minimum clear distance above diffuser = 1,20 m

Do not plug below any electrical device.

Do not plug in upside down.

Do not use near air-conditioning units, vents, cold air returns or exhaust fans as it may increase the diffusion rate.

Do not use any other plug-in air freshener, home fragrance spray, oil burner or diffuser in the same room as the product as it may affect the efficacy.

Please make sure your cat has an adequate number of litter boxes (one box per cat, plus one) and that they are cleaned daily. FELIWAY® CLASSIC will not help decrease urine spraying if clean litter boxes are not available to the cat.

Scratching is a natural behavior of cats. Your cat should also have an easily accessible scratching post in the home. FELIWAY® CLASSIC will not deter scratching if a scratching post is not provided.

If your cat has conflict with another cat living in your home, we recommend using FELIWAY® FRIENDS.
