Cat skin and coat care

Nothing is more beautiful and softer to touch than the luxurious coat of a cat, and it’s also very functional. There can be as many as 20 000 hairs per square centimetre in a cat’s coat. These hairs give a cat sensory data, protect the cat from heat and cold as well as wind and rain, and even help a cat manufacture vital nutrients like vitamin D.

As meticulous as cats are in caring for this treasure, once in a while a kitty’s coat can lose its shine. There are many factors that can cause a cat’s coat to be dull, dry or flaky, e.g. poor nutrition, weight problems, age and bathing too often. A few other reasons could be: diabetes, parasites, skin infections, allergies, autoimmune diseases, dry winter air or more serious issues. If you can’t get behind the reason for your cat’s skin or fur problems, visit your veterinarian.

Comb and brush your cat regularly. Brushing your cat not only removes dirt, grease and dead hair from its coat, but it helps to remove skin flakes and it also stimulates blood circulation, improving the overall condition of the skin.

Pet hero has carefully selected the products you need to keep your cat’s skin and coat as healthy as it should be.
