HOW your dog eats is just as important as WHAT your dog eats, which is why it’s super impawtant to put a lot of thought into your dog’s bowl and/or feeding accessories. Pet Hero stocks a very wide range of dog food bowls made for small dogs, large dogs and in-between dogs, as well as those who need some extra help when eating and drinking.

Should a dog’s food bowl be elevated?

It’s not as simple as yes or no. A dog’s food bowl should be elevated if it’s going to relieve their aches and pains. Some dogs may have sore necks or may need to strain if they are large or giant breed dogs bending down to eat their food at ground level. A raised food bowl makes eating more comfortable. Dogs with medical conditions that make it difficult to swallow or ingest their food benefit from having their food bowl raised. If in doubt, ask for your vet’s advice.

What type of bowl is best for dog food?

Again, it depends on the dog. While stainless steel bowls are more hygienic and easier to clean than plastic bowls, some dogs don’t like the sound the stainless steel makes on the ground, or the reverberating clang of the metal while they drink. You can be posh and give your dog a ceramic food bowl. A plain plastic bowl is great for most dogs, while a slow feeder is the most ideal dog food bowl to ensure your dog takes their time in picking, crunching and swallowing their food… instead of simply ‘inhaling’ it in one mouthful. We have lots of colourful and fun slow feeder bowls to choose from.

Are silicone dog bowls safe?

For dogs who enjoy going on outdoor adventures, nothing is more convenient than collapsible food and water bowls. These are usually made of silicone and are perfectly safe for dogs to eat and drink from. Pet Hero has plenty of silicone and even fabric collapsible bowls for you to take on your dog-and-me adventures!
