Cats are homebodies – yes, even the roamers – and feel safe and secure knowing where ‘home’ is. Creatures of comfort and routine, most cats will happily live out their lives in and around your home, finding it extra special that you are there! But what if you need to take your cat out beyond the

boundaries of your home and yard? Relax, Pet Hero has everything you need to ensure you can venture out and about with your cat without (m)any hassles!

Do cats like travelling?

That depends entirely on the cat. Some cats can be total vagabonds along with their wanderlustful owners. However, most cats prefer to be in control of their environment, which means feet on the ground with an easy exit if necessary. If you need to take your cat to the vet, you’ll want to be prepared. You’ll need a travel crate, a collar with a name tag, and some form of calming medication for cats if your feline friend does not like travelling in a car.

The best way to transport a cat

Many cats will not be comfortable being transported in a car. Furtunately there is a solution for this scenario: calming medication can help your cat to relax in transit. Also, you can familiarise your cat with a travel crate and make it a pleasant experience for her to be in the crate when it’s at home, on the ground with the door open. Put her favourite blanket inside and feed her treats when she lies down inside it. When the time comes to transport her, simply close the door gently, encourage her and try to make her time inside the crate as short and enjoyable as possible.
