What is Advocate?
Advocate is a so-called endectocide, a single product effective against both ecto- and endoparasites like fleas, lice, mites and different types of worms.
Why should I buy this product?
In the last decades, due to travelling and climate change parasites have conquered new territories and with their spreading also the threat of parasitic diseases or diseases transmitted by parasites has grown. Thus, broad-spectrum prevention is becoming more and more important, not only because of the health risk for the individual animal but also to protect the whole population against the spreading of parasitic diseases.
Fleas on cats must be stopped from biting as quickly as possible. Flea bites can cause suffering and may transmit diseases. Advocate for Cats kills fleas before an infestation starts and controls FAD, flea allergy dermatitis. It is also a top spot dewormer; no more being clawed or bitten when trying to deworm your cat with a tablet.

Advocate can be used on kittens over 9 weeks of age and 1 kg in weight.
What is the best way to store Advocate?
Advocate comes in a box of 3 tubes. Store the advocate in the original packaging in a cool, dry place.
Directions for Use

Hold the applicator tube in an upright position. Twist and pull the cap off the tube.

Turn the cap around and place the other end of the cap back on the tube.

Twist cap to break the seal, then remove the cap from the tube.

For easy application, your animal should be standing.
-
Part the hair on the cat’s neck at the base of the skull until the skin is visible.
-
Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube firmly several times to empty its contents directly on the skin as a single spot.

Application at the base of the skull will minimise the opportunity for the cat to lick the product.

Apply only to undamaged skin.

Apply one tube to one cat.
Flea treatment and prevention: Treat the cat at 4 weekly intervals. One treatment prevents future flea infestation for 4 weeks.
Ear mites: A single dose of the product should be administered. A subsequent veterinary examination 30 days after treatment is recommended as some animals may require a second treatment. DO NOT APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE EAR CANAL.
Roundworm and hookworm treatment: If Advocate is being used solely for intestinal worms, then treatment every 3 months is recommended. If Advocate is used for flea control or heartworm prevention, monthly treatments may significantly reduce the risk of re-infection of intestinal worms.
Water exposure: Brief contact of the animal with water on one or 2 occasions between monthly treatments is unlikely to significantly reduce the efficacy of the product. However. Frequent shampooing or immersion in water directly after treatment may reduce the effectiveness of the product.
Safety

Advocate for cats must not be used on dogs.

The safety of Advocate for cats has not been established during pregnancy and lactation.

Handle with care.

Store away from food and feed.

Keep out of reach of children.

Do not allow recently treated animals to groom each other. Care should be taken to prevent the animal from licking the application site.

On rare occasions, the use of the product may result in transient pruritus in cats, and greasy fur, erythema and vomiting can occur. These signs disappear without further treatment.

The product tastes bitter. Salivation may occasionally occur if the animal licks the application site immediately after treatment. This is not a sign of intoxication and disappears with some minutes without treatment.

Consult your vet before using the product on sick and debilitated cats.
PRECAUTIONS:

Avoid contact with skin, eyes or mouth.

Do not eat, drink or smoke while applying or after application before washing hands thoroughly.

Do not stroke or groom the animals after application, until the application site is dry.

Prevent contamination of food, utensils, drinking water etc.

Dispose of used tubes.
-
The solvent in Advocate may stain certain materials, including plastics, leather, fabrics and finished surfaces.

If in contact with the skin: wash off immediately with soapy water.

If in contact with eyes: flush thoroughly with water. If irritation persists or if the product is accidentally swallowed, seek medical attention and show the package insert to the physician.
